What's biking if you're doing it alone?
Obviously it's healthy, and fun - and maybe going it solo is your preference - but it's undeniable that bicyclists share a strong sense of community, and there is nothing quite like attending a local bike meet, event, or fundraiser.
Here are a few fun ones coming up over the next few months!
1. #CicLAVIA the city - March 26th, 2017
Much like the recently passed "Bike626" hosted from Pasadena to Pomona, this CicLAvia bike event will cover a huge road-centric ride from Culver City to Venice beach! There will be no vehicles on the roads, and the event runs from 9am - 4pm. See you there?
2. California Classic Ride - April 1st, 2017
This ride covers a 10 mile stretch of freeway on the 168 where cars will be redirected to other roads. This ride starts in Fresno, and all cyclists must be there at 7am sharp - don't miss out on the California Classic!
3. The Red Hawk Ride - April 8th, 2017
This is an awesome, family-friendly ride starting in Redding, at the Simpson University, covering either 25mi, 50mi, or 100mi, depending on how long you plan to stay out there. Don't eat breakfast till you get there - there's plenty of shops and restaurants en-route at the Red Hawke Ride.
4. The Los Angeles River Ride - June 4th, 2017
This one hosts four biking options - a 36, 50, 70, and 100 mile-long ride, with different starting points (we'd probably start at Griffith Park, in the Autry). It's another family-friendly ride, with tons of shops and restaurants in between. The Los Angeles River Ride is diffinitely one that no Californian should miss out on!
5. The California Central Climate Ride - June 9th-13th, 2017
Ride for a change with this meet - starts in San Francisco, and ends in San Luis Obispo over the course of a few days, with an average daily mile coverage of 40-70 miles/day. The Climate Ride is going to be a tough one, but it's definitely worth the sweat and heat if you want to ride for climate change, transportation funds, or wildlife conservation!
